Our story

Most schools are making their biggest
decisions without the data to back them up.

Most schools are making their biggest decisions without the data to back them up.

We built Pivot to change that, giving school leaders and teachers the clear, evidence-based insights they need to make a real difference for every student.

Where it started

Where it started

In 2014, three women who had spent their careers in and around Australian schools sat down and asked a straightforward question: why are so many school improvement decisions still based on gut feeling?

Teachers were working hard, but rarely getting the kind of honest, structured feedback that could help them grow. Principals were setting strategic priorities without reliable data on what was actually happening in their classrooms. And students, the people whose daily experience matters most, were almost never asked.

The tools to fix this existed. The willingness was there. What was missing was a simple, evidence-based way to bring it all together.

Why we built Pivot

Our founding story

Our founding story

Pivot began as a conversation between three co-founders, each bringing a different lens to the same problem.

Cleo-Westhorpe

Cleo Westhorpe

Co-Founder

Spent nearly two decades as a secondary school teacher, school leader, and Geography curriculum author.

She had sat in staffrooms, led departments, and worked with hundreds of teachers and principals across Victoria. She knew what good teaching looked like, and she knew how rarely teachers received feedback that helped them get there.

Together, they built Pivot, not as a tech company that stumbled into education, but as a team that understood schools
from the inside, and knew that the right data, in the right hands, could shift outcomes for students and teachers alike.

Student-Voice-is-a-must-have

Student voice is not a nice-to-have. It's a non-negotiable

The students in your school have the most accurate, most immediate view of what's working in the classroom. We believe their voice should be at the centre of every school improvement conversation.

Data should reduce workload, not add to it

Too many school leaders are drowning in reports that don't tell them anything useful. We believe data should make decisions easier, not harder — and our job is to surface the insights that matter, clearly and quickly.

Every-School-Deserves-The-Same-Tools

Every school deserves the tools that elite schools take for granted.

Access to quality data and evidence-based practice should not depend on a school's budget, size, or postcode. That is the standard we hold ourselves to.
