A Practical Roadmap to Classroom Impact

Victorian schools are actively progressing towards VTLM 2.0 implementation, with all government schools expected to embed the model by 2028

But implementation is more than understanding a framework.
It requires clarity, consistency and confident leadership.

The VTLM 2.0 Leadership Series is designed to help school leaders cut through reform noise and move from theory to whole-school impact.

Across three practical leadership briefings, we explore:

  • The Why - the learning science that underpins the model

  • The What - the evidence-based teaching practices it prioritises

  • The How - and the structures schools need to embed it effectively

Designed for principals, instructional leaders and network leaders, this series supports schools to implement VTLM 2.0 with consistent practice and teaching impact in readiness for 2028.

The Science of Learning and VTLM 2.013 March | 3.30pm

13 March | 3.30pm

In the first session of the series, we delve into the why behind VTLM 2.0, giving school leaders a clear understanding of the science that underpins how students learn. We explore what research tells us about attention, memory and knowledge development and why this matters for teaching practice.

We cover:

•        The mechanisms for learning according to the most current neuroscience

•        When and why certain teaching approaches are more effective

•        What this means for evidence-informed practice across a school

Evidence-Based Teaching in Practice: VTLM 2.0 in the Classroom

20 March | 3.30pm

In the second session, we explore how VTLM 2.0 translates learning science into classroom practice, focusing on the teaching approaches that most effectively support student learning. We unpack what these practices look like in action and how they work together to build understanding and mastery over time.

We cover:

•        The core teaching practices within VTLM 2.0

•        How these practices support attention, memory and learning

•        What this looks like in classrooms

 Leading Whole-School Implementation

27 March | 3.30pm

In the third session, we focus on what it takes to implement VTLM 2.0 effectively at a whole-school level. We explore how leaders can move from understanding the model to embedding consistent practice across classrooms in a structured and sustainable way.

We cover:

•        How much school context matters

•        Going through the stages of implementation

•        Addressing enablers and barriers

•        Using data to track implementation
